US EMBASSY, LOME, TOGO IS SEEKING AN INDIVIDUAL FOR THE POSITION OF COOK

Under the general supervision of the Employer, the US Ambassador, the cook will perform the following duties:
1. Plan and prepare all foods for everyday meals as well as special events. This is to include the careful and
hygienic handling, as well as storage of all foodstuffs.
2. Maintain an inventory of food supplies and advise of shopping or replenishing needs. Shop for these if and
when requested.
3. Keep all kitchen areas, utensils and appliances very clean and insure that they are in good working order.
4. Assist Residence Head Housekeeper with the cleaning of the downstairs areas of the Residence, as well as
with the washing and ironing of kitchen and official linens – on an as needed basis.
5. Assist with meal service for employer and family as well as at official events, as necessary.
6. Perform all other reasonable duties as requested by employer.
Qualifications Required/
Education: Completion of secondary school and completion of training in the art of cooking are required.
Language: Must be fluent in French, able to read and write. English conversational skills a plus.
Work Experience: A minimum of three (3) years work experience as a cook in hotels, restaurants, or in
residences where usually large receptions are hosted.
Skills: General organizational skills. Must have good interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
